At the end of November, an industry event took place that shouldn’t be ignored.

The “Offshore Energy Exhibition & Conference” launched in Amsterdam and spanned across two days - it was a whirlwind occasion packed with value for everyone who attended.

Maritime employees from all roles, specialisms, and industries were encouraged to interact with one another and build buzz for the future ahead.

Were you there?

“Offshore Energy Exhibition & Conference is where the energy transition takes place. It is Europe’s leading event for the entire offshore energy industry and an opportunity to reach business leaders, highly qualified experts and professionals across global markets.” - NW Europe

The offshore energy conference’s featured guests

We were delighted to see that some big names made an appearance at the event.

Representatives from the following companies both participated in and led a wide variety of relevant discussions that could prove game-changing:

  • TenneT

  • Gasunie

  • BP

  • TotalEnergies

  • Siemens Energy

  • RWE Renewables

  • GustoMSC

  • DNV

That’s not all. Alongside these esteemed guests, there were also panellists from a variety of influential and political groups, including (but not limited to):

  • European Commission

  • The Netherlands Wind Energy Association

  • Marine Energy Alliance

  • Government of the Netherlands

“The industry leaders discussed the changing offshore energy landscape, but they also called out for action.” - Offshore Wind

Select Offshore’s favourite panels

While the event as a whole was one for the record books, our team definitely had their favourite moments.

These included the pre-scheduled panels as well as some impromptu conversations.

As you might expect, a mixture of thought leaders and experts were invited from all over the world.

They not only committed themselves to recap the year we’ve had, but also provided heaps of data-driven insight into the opportunities coming toward the offshore industry.

This jam-packed programme encouraged thoughtful conversation, and some of the best talks included:

  1. The Roadmap of Hydrogen

  2. A Focus on Floating Wind

  3. Scaling Up Marine Energy

  4. Opportunities in Offshore Wind

  5. Becoming Future Proof

These topics were discussed across Tuesday 29th November and Wednesday 30th November, and were panels that were equally well-attended and received.

“The event brought together the offshore wind, hydrogen, marine energy, oil and gas and maritime supply chains. The participants shared knowledge and connected during the high-quality content program at the many networking opportunities and in the exhibition hall.” - Offshore Wind

Select Offshore’s favourite interviews

As if these highlights weren’t enough, the open exhibition floor proved to be an educational and rewarding space for all attendees.

In particular, we loved the talk on “Human Capital”, which covered everything an employer can do to keep their team motivated.

However, there’s one piece that stood out from the rest.

The “Young Perspectives” interview was an incredible display of three young minds:

  1. Monty Schebesta

  2. Pascal Marcus

  3. Sibel Gokbekir

All of whom will soon be leading our industry, there’s no doubt.

After all, the detail they delved into on the future of offshore energy translation was an all-around impressive display of their industry knowledge, and a conversation worth catching up on if you haven’t already.

The highlight of the Offshore Energy Conference 2022

As recruiters, we’re also professional networkers.

It might, then, come as no surprise that we believe the Offshore Energy Conference’s “Matchmaking Programme” was an asset that deserves to be celebrated.

It invited talent from all walks of life to interact on a more personal level (either through 1:1 meetings or round tables) and resulted in life-long partnerships being formed.

Mentorships were agreed upon, guidance was provided, questions were asked, and steadfast bonds were made.

It’s these relationships that will shape offshore energy in the years ahead, as we all collaborate together to secure a promising future.

Plus, this matchmaking will support the welcoming of new talent as they find their feet in our world, likely improving diversity and accessibility across the board.

“After two days of doing business, networking, celebrating innovation, and making new connections and collaborations, the 15th edition of the Offshore Energy Exhibition & Conference (OEEC) can look back on a successful and inspiring event. The event brought together over 400 exhibitors and more than 6,500 registered visitors.” - OEEC

Select Offshore’s prediction for offshore energy in 2023

From the conversations that we witnessed, it’s hard not to feel excitement for 2023.

While there were some concerns, the opportunities far outweighed the negatives.

As long as you can secure the talent you need to scale your company (which can come with its own complexities), you should have a successful year ahead.
